The precautions for using die-casting molds mainly include the following aspects:
1. Installation and preheating: The die-casting mold must be installed on a die-casting machine with good performance and matching the original design model, and the die-casting alloy material used must match the original design material. Before installing the mold, the peripheral fastening bolts should be checked to confirm that there is no looseness before installation. Before testing the mold, all sliding and guiding parts should be fully lubricated with oil, and the mold should be opened and closed several times at a slow speed to observe whether each part of the mold is running normally. After confirming that it is stable, reliable, and flexible, the mold can be tested again.
2. Process parameter adjustment: During mold testing, the mold should be fully preheated, and a slightly lower melt temperature and injection pressure should be selected. The pressure should be tested at a moderate injection speed. Cooling should be sufficient, and mold opening should be carried out at low speed. Gradually adjust the parameters of each die-casting process according to the trial mold situation to achieve the optimal state. It is prohibited to test the mold under high pressure, high speed, and no preheating conditions from the beginning.
3. Maintenance and upkeep: Before each shift of the mold starts working, all sliding and guiding parts should be evenly lubricated, and the installation pressure plate bolts of the mold should be checked for looseness. During the production process, the guiding and sliding parts of the mold should be regularly cleaned and lubricated to ensure smooth and accurate movement without any jamming. If any abnormalities are found during the production process, the machine should be stopped for inspection in a timely manner.
4. Materials and Design: High quality steel must be selected as the material for die-casting molds. During design, the appropriate wall thickness and size of the mold should be considered, and the position of the cooling water channel should ensure uniform surface temperature of the mold cavity. The design of the runner, sprue, and overflow should be reasonable to ensure smooth entry of metal into various parts of the mold cavity.
5. Heat treatment and stress treatment: Die casting molds should undergo reasonable heat treatment before use, and quenching should be fast enough. After repairing and welding the mold, stress relief treatment should be carried out in a timely manner to eliminate the stress generated during the production process.
6. Cleaning and inspection: The parting surface of the mold should be cleaned regularly to avoid the generation of burrs or dirt. Keeping the parting surface clean can prevent mold damage and improve product quality. When each team takes over, they should carefully inspect the molds according to the "Mold Inspection Form" and promptly solve any problems found.
